FireFlex is an egg carton style cut of open cell melamine foam.    These acoustic foam panels are soundproofing panels cut to a 2'x4' size and are available in 2', 3" and 4" thickness.    Thicker acoustical foam will absorb more low bass tones than thinner foam panels.    The FireFlex acoustical panels are class A fire rated foam panels approved for use as soundproofing foam in public buildings, furnace rooms, industrial settings and high temperature or open flame noise sources.

This is class A fire rated foam.    The material is ideal for use in industrial or commercial settings where open flames or high temperature settings surround the unwanted noise.   Remember that foam does not "block" noise from bleeding away, it simply absorbs reflections returning back towards the sound source.    FireFlex is cut from melamine foam, which is imported from Europe, and makes the material more expensive than standard polyurethane foam.

FireFlex is cut in an egg carton style.   This means the pattern is not guaranteed to repeat itself from piece to piece as you adhere the material to your surface with adhesive.   If you need a more aesthetic treatment using this foam, we recommend the Pyramids or VCuts Plus panels, which will yield a more uniform, and less disjointed appearance on your wall.

FireFlex can be sprayed with our hypalon skin to help prevent moisture from penetrating into the material.    These skins, however, are not class A fire rated for use in public buildings.    If you need class A fire rated material in a public building, you could also opt for any of our family of fiberglass products, including Fabric Panels, Ceiling Clouds and VET Baffles.

The standard use for FireFlex is in an industrial setting.     If you are treating a back wall behind a loud stationary sound source, coverage is often a question.    We recommend you cover the shadow of the machine on the wall and extend another 50% in every direction.    For questions, contact our help desk at 1-800-638-9355.
