Problem:
A variety of potential problems exist when addressing sound control in a musical environment. Anything from a garage band with
unhappy neighbors, a school band room, a recording studio, voice over booth, concert hall, or the teenager with the drumset in his room, there lies an inherit need for sound control! Goal: There are specific goals that are typically targeted by our musical customers. First, to protect others from the
noise. Second, to enhance the quality of the sound being produced.
Solution: We can provide immediate advice on what structurally can be done to the surrounding walls to help
contain the noise to within the room. Then we will recommend products to be applied to the exposed finished walls that can help control reverberation and produce a quality sound. Remember to
concentrate on the low, flat bass noise. These longer, flatter noise waves are a big culprit in fighting sound problems. They're more difficult to control and force mid and high pitched sounds to have to work harder
to be heard. This drives up your decibel levels! So tackle bass noise first! Products:NOISE BARRIER MATERIAL
dB-Bloc is a heavy, limp mass material typically sold in 54" x 50' rolls. Each
roll weighs about 250 pounds. Despite its mass, the product is only .10" thick, and is ideal for treatment inside a wall cavity, behind a layer of sheet rock, or above a ceiling tile system. The
material serves to help deaden the transmission of noise through your walls. Also, ask NetWell's consultants about staggering your wall studs or
building a floating wall to help prevent structural vibration from leaking your noise to those unhappy neighbors! We'll also tell you how to install the dB-Bloc into a room that is already finished off!
QBS-1 Blankets are also popular where a less slightly installation can do, and if portable curtains are needed for temporary relief in front of windows and doors!
ACOUSTIC ABSORPTION MATERIAL Foam or Fiberglass are your options. Most Foam based products will typically cost less and are thus more popular for the amateur musician.
Foam will degrade over time, and be less durable however, and will not meet all your class A fire ratings. Fiberglass products are more durable, and available in more color options for those concerned about aesthetics.
PYRAMIDS-These are 2'x2' foam panels ideal for installation on your wall surfaces.
Easy to install with a tube of adhesive, and symmetrical in shape and design. Very popular for recording studios, drummers, voice over booths, band rooms and more. For a class A fire rating, ask NetWell to
cut the Pyramids out of melamine foam rather than polyurethane!
FABRIC PANELS are Fiberglass Panels available in more than 50 colors, and
can be cut to your specific size requirements! These are compressed fiberglass panels designed for gluing or clipping
to wall surfaces, or can be double sided and suspended vertically from the ceiling as a baffle. Ideal for sanctuary and gymnasium applications!
The 2" thick option will triple your result at the low bass end over the 1" thickness. A sophisticated, aesthetic look with a stronger price tag than the foam, but well worth the effort!
Ask NetWell for help in quantities needed for your application, and any installation techniques! MAX SOUNDBLOCKS are thick 12" x 12" cubes of foam ideal for those lowest of bass noise sources.
CEILING TILES made of melamine foam will out perform standard fiberglass tiles you may be more familiar with. These tiles are ideal for
sound control in a band room or studio setting. They can be glued to an existing flat finished ceiling, or can be laid into a grid. Several beveled designs can be cut into their face to add to the beauty of your room!
