Q & A
ordering information of hearing protection and noise reduction products

1. Your site is well put together, and helps me to understand the process, but how do I know what product to pick and how much I need?

A: Once you've had a chance to visit this site thoroughly, measure your room and call us. The website does a great job at overview, but is not intended as an ordering vehicle.

Our consultants are trained to help you answer any questions you have, construct a solution to your noise problem, and direct you towards appropriate products, quantities, costs, and installation guidelines! When you are ready, we welcome your call to 1-800-638-9355.

2. How can we be sure it will work?

A: First, set your expectation levels accordingly. You should know that no matter what steps you take, there will always be unwanted noise. Our mutual goal here is not to CURE your problem, but simply better CONTROL it.

Second, take a look at the test results. These are independent numbers, and provide a good snapshot as to their properties. Again, our consultants can help you read and understand the figures so you know what they mean. The larger the number, the better your result.

Finally, we can then project the results into your specific application. You can then use the website to source out any referrals who had your same problem, and achieved success using NetWell's product line!

3. On average, what reasonable results could we come to expect?

A: It depends on whether you're trying to "block" original sound from becoming airborne passing through a common wall, or if you are trying to "absorb" sound reflections within the same room the noise is generating from.

Our foams, wall coverings, ceiling tiles, baffles and fabric panels are all designed to absorb echo, and will typically yield 3-10 dB drops. Our blankets, barriers and lagging products will block 12-20+ dB of sound from becoming airborne in the first place, or from passing through a common wall. Note that you will always achieve more superior results if you are able to attack the source of the noise as opposed to it's path. Barrier products will always achieve more superior results. Also note that every 3 dB drop is actually a 50% drop in sound pressure!

4. How much will it cost?

A: It depends on what products are required, and the size of your facility or noise source. Pricing will typically range from $2-12 per square foot. A home musician may spend $400 to lower drum noise in his practice room in the basement, whereas a pastor in a church may look upwards of $15,000+ to successfully balance the sound in a sanctuary. Most projects will fall between these ranges. A quick price quote can be provided by phone today!

5. Do you have minimum order requirements?

A: No. But buyer beware! Remember that when you treat a room for sound control, there are minimum quantities that we will suggest for you based on the cubic footage of the room, or the size of your noise source, or the dimensions of a common wall. If you try to control costs by limiting quantity, your results will fall off dramatically. Our consultants will help you find that break even point of minimizing your investment while maximizing your acoustical results!

6. How do I know here to position the materials I order from NetWell?

A: If you're treating a common wall or enclosure for transmission loss, cover 100% of the surface space to minimize leakage. If you're treating a room for unwanted sound reverberation within a room, you should be more concerned with quantity than placement. Your room's cubic footage will dictate how much material you need install. Remember that the reflecting sound waves in your room will travel in every direction like a pebble wave in a pond, at 700 mph. In the blink of an eye, the noise will reflect it's own way into the material and get caught. Your job is to be sure enough of the material is originally installed!

If you follow our advice on quantities, then divide backwards and work to evenly apply the material throughout the room as best you can. The placement becomes a matter of common sense, and doing what's practical for you. Spread them out evenly around the perimeter of the room. Take into account such issues as aesthetics, sprinkler heads, supply/return vents, children, animals, heat, moisture, locations of your primary noise sources, etc. Again, our consultants will assist you with any placement or installation guidelines you may have! Please call!

7. What do I need to do to get started?

A: You've already done it! By surfing this website, you've made the first step toward lessening your noise problems. The next step is to zero in on your application on this website, study your options and call us. We'll need your room's dimensions to formulate your solution. Upon ordering, it will take 1-3 weeks to deliver your order for self installation. At that point, you take over, apply the materials in accordance with our advice, and enjoy the acoustic results you seek!
