Soundproofing and Noise Control Blankets

Noise Control Challenge:

You have a loud stationary industrial noise source that is fully or partially encloseable.   Rather than constructing a full metal enclosure around the unit, you opt to suspend a set of portable sound control blankets around the unit.   Our goal is to contain the noise with a more portable, user friendly sound enclosure system.

Soundproofing Treatment:

Start by building a simple frame around your noise source.    You could use 2x4 studs, unistrut, tubular steel, angle iron, chain link fence, or the walls of the existing room if there is already structure built around the unit.   Feed your frame dimensions to NetWell.   We will cut a set of noise control curtains to match your frame and contain the noise.   If you can't install a frame, we could also cut the acoustical blankets as a sound jacket to affix direct to your sound source.   All sound control curtain options products involved are listed in our Product Bin.

Acoustic Result:

Results will vary depending on leakage from partial enclosures, floor vibrations, frequency levels of your noise source, and initial dB readings.   On average a sound blanket enclosure treatment can trigger a 12-18 dB drop.   Noise reduction results from sound curtain enclosures are simulated in our Sound Chamber.

First note that any sound control curtain system can be custom cut to meet any cavity size dimensions.   The blankets are typically grommeted across the top, velcroed seams run down each side for interconnection, and the entire curtain is fully stitched and quilted.

We can make cuts, slits, holes, removable patches, windows, openings, strip curtains, ventilation hoods and a host of other custom add-ons to make the system work for you and your enclosure.

The frame can be made of anything strong enough to support a 1.5 pound per square foot weight that the blankets carry.

The QBS Blanket is class A fire rated.  The QBV Blanket is not, but is more contourable, bendable and durable.    For outdoor treatments, the QBO Blankets are weather proof with grommets added to the base as well as the top for added protection against the wind.

For high moisture areas upgrade the skin to silicone and request stainless steel grommets.  The standard blanket is heat resistant to 170 degrees Fahrenheit.   The upgrade skin makes the blanket heat resistant to 480 degrees Fahrenheit.

For custom Jackets, we recommend you either ship us your machine or make a cardboard/duct tape prototype that we can use to match the cuts to the blankets.   The net result will fit your sound source like a golf glove.

The fiberglass used to make these blankets is 2" thick.   When the material is run through the stitching machines, the blankets compress to 1".
