Soundproofing Your Swimming Pool

Sound Panels For Your Natatorium

We get two calls from clients who seek to treat an indoor swimming pool for noise control.   They are either trying to lower pool pump noise, or they are trying to improve the acoustics within a natatorium by lowering excessive echoes bouncing off the perimeter concrete surfaces that usually comprise a pool room.   With either soundproofing treatment, pool pump noise or poor room acoustics, the soundproofing treatment found here is something that we easily duplicate over and over again with great success for our clients.

Swimming Pool Noise Control

For unwelcome pool pump noise, whether indoors or outdoors, a set of QBO sound barrier curtains can be cut to match the cavity size of any structure or fencing built around the unit.   These blankets can deaden up to 90% of the noise attempting to pass through them, they are waterproof, class A fire rated, portable, easy to self install, and easy to collapse so you can gain access to the pumps for filter cleaning, back washing, checking temperature levels and so on.   Each enclosure built around a pool pump is unique to the starting point for your application, call NetWell's help desk at 1-800-638-9355 to get started.

For combating the echoes within a natatorium, the soundproofing treatment targets the introduction of a set of wall or ceiling mounted sound panels that can withstand the moisture in the air and are class A fire rated.  The answer?   Our VET Baffles suspend vertically in rows and columns from your ceiling, or our VET Panels can be suspended against your walls around the perimeter of your room.  In either case, the key to the success of the treatment is to ensure that you do not under treat the space.   We provide a free Room Analysis for our clients to help them calculate how much coverage the treatment requires based on the size of the space.

Acoustic Results For Soundproofing a Swimming Pool

The acoustical panels for soundproofing a natatorium will capture and convert the unwanted background noise, dropping the reverberation time down to under 2.0 seconds.   This in turn will lower the excessive noise levels in the space, and render the space more user friendly.   Concrete absorbs on average 3% of the echoes in a pool room, while the VET Baffles can absorb up to 80% of the same level of echo.   The difference is amazing.    As for the pool pump, a sound barrier QBO Blanket treatment can block up to 90% of the excessive noise levels that will want to bleed through the material.   Again, we will custom cut these QBO Blankets to match the cavity size of your framework built around your pool pump.

Additional Soundproofing Tips for Your Natatorium

VET Baffles and VET Panels are actually the same product, just two different methods for introducing the sound panel treatment into your space.   Many Natatorium clients opt for the VET Panels as it is easier to surface mount them to the perimeter walls than it is to install the VET Baffles to the ceiling, out over the water.   Once trick to install the VET Baffles over the water is to run a clothes line end to end across the room, and hang the VET Baffles from the line.   This would allow you to hang them out over the water.
