Street Traffic Noise

Problem: A variety of external noises including traffic, trains, airplanes, barking dogs, noisy neighbors, etc prevent you from getting a good nights sleep!

Solution: There is none! No kidding. Nothing we can put in a box and ship to you will cure your problem. Noise will vibrate throughout the structure of your facility, enter through windows, doors, outlets, vents, ducts, pipes, chimneys, the roof and more. Not to mention vibration straight through your walls.

SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?

First, if your problem is severe, we recommend you turn to your yellow pages and find a local acoustical consultant trained in treating a residential home for sound control. You can share our website with them and access our products as need be.

Second, if your problem is less severe, let's review a few of our applications that have worked to some degree. To start with, our QBV-1 Blankets are popular for window dressings. We can cut them to fit the size of a bedroom window, they can roll up like a taco and store in your closet, and hang for a good nights sleep. These may be an eyesore for residential use, but they work. You could also opt to have us cut them to fit the entire cavity size of your wall, but note that these blankets are not priced for residential use.

We also have an outdoor version of this QBV-1 Blankets system that allows you to suspend vertically around pumps, motors, HVAC systems, etc where outdoor stationary noise sources are a problem. This version of the blanket would receive a silicone skin for weatherproof use.

You could also opt to follow our techniques described in our section Stop Noise Bleed Through a Common Wall. Here we describe techniques involved in layering our dB-Bloc to your walls and framing techniques for either new build or retrofit scenarios. Again, the primary goal is to hold noise to one side. The use of our dB-Bloc in the right way can certainly help step you closer to peace and quiet. Remember that the appropriate use of this dense material is to add it to an inner wall that is disconnected from the exterior structure of your home. Thus the problem. Unless you're a new build. Then frame accordingly and call us for the dB-Bloc.

Beyond that, you're past the scope of our product line. Call a consultant in your area and see what they might suggest or recommend. If any of our other products are of interest, let us know.
