Does Soundproofing Really Work?

Without a doubt, if it’s done right, soundproofing does really work, yes.   The key to the success of any soundproofing treatment lies in product selection and quantities required to trigger the sound effects you are seeking.    Your best first step is to source a supplier that has a long, healthy track record, a supplier who has encountered your same sound issue over and over again, and resolved the same problem for countless others.  Soundproofing treatments are nothing more than replicating over and over again what works, and knowing how to avoid the traps and pitfalls.   There is alot of misinformation on the web, alot of so called sound experts that frame their treatment options around limited product lines, and steer decision making in the wrong direction.

If you are experiencing sound bleed through common walls, ceilings or floors, up to 90% of the energy can be stopped if you follow the “disconnection + density” formula outlined here on this website.   The key there is to line your common assembly with density and disconnect how the surface is assembled, the goal is to force the collapse of the sound wave.   Again, yes soundproofing treatments work, but always know that there is no “cure” to the problem, only steps to better “control” your issue.

If you are experiencing poor room acoustics by noise generated within the room, your soundproofing treatment is all about taking echoes away.   This can be done with a variety of sound panels being surface mounted in the room to absorb sound wave reflections.   By slowing down the level of echo in a room, you deliver greater clarity to original sound, lower decibel level exposure, lower crowd noise, improve musical tone, and make the space more user friendly.   Again, the variety of sound panels that are on the market can blur the vision.   Find a supplier you trust, hopefully it’s us here at NetWell Noise Control, and a supplier that has a long, extended track record.   Ours dates back more than 20 years, longer than most you might be sourcing on the internet.

The key to saving money on your projects is to also source suppliers who offer the advice at no charge.   Unless you are under litigation and need full documentation on your project, replicating soundproofing treatments does not requrie expensive, onsite acoustical analysis.   Yes, the bulk of the treatments can be reesolved by the experts without standing inside your space.   It’s all about replication.   And on the back end of your project, source soundproofing products that you can self install.   You do not need expensive acoustical contractors to install your treatment.
