Fabric Cloud Installation
Our Fabric Clouds are designed for simple, straightforward suspension using standard ceiling hardware. Each cloud includes panel mounting points for secure attachment to your existing ceiling structure.
Layout & Spacing – Mark the ceiling layout based on your acoustic coverage plan. Evenly space panels over key noise areas such as dining zones, conference spaces, or open offices.
Anchor Points – Install ceiling anchors (by others) directly into structural supports or grid systems, depending on your ceiling type.
Cable Suspension – Attach hanging cables to each panel’s mounting clips, adjusting length to achieve your desired ceiling height. Keep cables taut for a clean, level appearance.
Final Adjustments – Once suspended, align panels evenly and ensure all cables are straight and secure.
Most customers self-install Fabric Clouds using their facility or maintenance staff. If professional installation is preferred, we can provide qualified acoustic installers upon request.

Fabric Cloud Tips: Getting the Most from Your Acoustic Ceiling Panels
1. Plan Your Coverage Area
For best sound control, distribute Fabric Clouds evenly across the ceiling in the primary listening zone. In restaurants, focus over dining tables and open areas to reduce echo and background noise.
2. Mix Heights for Style and Performance
Vary suspension heights slightly for visual interest and to help break up sound reflections from different angles. Keep cables tight and level for a clean, professional appearance.
3. Choose Complementary Fabric Colors
Fabric Clouds come in a wide range of colors and textures — match your interior design or create contrast for a statement ceiling. Neutral tones like gray or beige provide timeless elegance, while bold hues can define zones or highlight architecture.
4. Combine with Wall Panels for Maximum NRC
Ceiling treatments absorb mid- and high-frequency sounds effectively, but adding wall panels improves overall room acoustics. Pair Fabric Clouds with Fabric Panels for complete sound balance.
5. Consider Lighting Integration
Suspending Fabric Clouds alongside pendant lighting creates a layered, modern look. Ensure adequate clearance for fixtures and airflow while maintaining symmetry in your ceiling layout.

Fabric Clouds – FAQ
What are Fabric Clouds?
Fabric Clouds are acoustical ceiling panels suspended horizontally to absorb sound and reduce echo in open spaces. Each cloud is made from a high-density fiberglass core wrapped in acoustically transparent fabric, providing both noise control and visual appeal.
Where are Fabric Clouds typically used?
They’re ideal for restaurants, offices, classrooms, lobbies, and other large or open areas where hard surfaces create sound reflections. The panels enhance speech clarity and improve overall acoustic comfort.
How effective are Fabric Clouds at reducing noise?
Fabric Clouds deliver high sound absorption, with a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) up to 1.15 for 2″ thickness. This means they absorb nearly all sound that strikes them, helping quiet busy spaces and improve communication.
Can Fabric Clouds be customized?
Yes. Fabric Clouds can be made in custom sizes, shapes (square, rectangle, circle, or hexagon), and fabric colors. This allows designers to create unique visual patterns while achieving precise acoustic performance.
How are Fabric Clouds installed?
Each panel is suspended from the ceiling using aircraft cables. Most customers handle installation in-house or through local contractors. NetWell provides mounting guidelines and hardware with every order.
What mounting hardware is included?
Each Fabric Cloud ships with mounting hardware for the back of the panel. The suspension cabling and terminal ceiling attachment hardware are not included, allowing installers to select components that best fit their ceiling type and layout.
What maintenance is required?
Fabric Clouds are low maintenance. Simply dust or vacuum them periodically with a soft brush attachment. The acoustical fabric should not be cleaned with liquid or harsh chemicals.
What are the core and fabric materials made of?
Each Fabric Cloud features a high-density 6-7 pcf fiberglass core designed for acoustic efficiency and dimensional stability. The outer surface is wrapped in an acoustically transparent fabric available in a wide range of colors and textures.
Are Fabric Clouds fire-rated?
Yes. Both the fiberglass core and the acoustical fabric meet ASTM E84 Class A fire performance requirements for flame spread and smoke development.
Are Fabric Clouds compatible with lighting, HVAC, and sprinklers?
Yes. Fabric Clouds are individually suspended, allowing flexibility in layout around ceiling fixtures, lighting, sprinklers, and air vents. Panels must maintain required clearances from fire suppression systems.
Shipping
Acoustic Fabric Clouds will be bundled and edge-protected, boxed up, and shrink-wrapped on pallets before shipment. Be sure to carefully inspect your shipment upon delivery. If you see any potential damage to your order, be sure to sign for it as such while your driver is still there. It happens on rare occasions, but if your sound panels are damaged, our only recourse is to replace the panels at the expense of the freight company, which only happens if you sign for the delivery as damaged. Be sure to notify our help desk if you need a lift gate for easier delivery.
