Wedges are acoustical foam panels cut as the standard egg carton pattern from open cell polyurethane foam.    These acoustic panels are used in a variety of settings for soundproofing and noise control.   Cut into 2", 3" or 4" thicknesses, these acoustic foam panels are often used as industrial foam for noise reduction.   The thicker acoustical panels will absorb more low bass frequency noise.    The Wedges are also popular for studio foam treatments and garage band noise.

First note that egg carton cuts of foam such as these wedges are not guaranteed to repeat the pattern evenly as you glue them to your surface one next to the other.    The patterns will not evenly align due to the weigh the foam is cut.    If aesthetics are a concern, you might opt for the Pyramids or the VCuts that deliver a more uniform appearance.
