Soundproofing a Gym

Little Flower Catholic School
The Challenge
The Little Flower Catholic School's gymnasium carried extended sound reverberation times that were interfering with public speaking events, musical programs, and generating unwelcome decibel level volumes in the room during crowded sporting event
The Treatment
A series of acosutic VET Baffles were installed in a herringbone pattern suspended vertically from the ceiling of the gymnasium. The baffles were staggered in this configuration to help combat any "combing" effect where sound waves could potentially escape the baffles had they all been suspended parallel in a parallel pattern.
The Result
"The resonant reduction was better than we expected" proclaimed Bill Belles of Spectrum Sound. The baffles were able to significantly slow the unwanted sound reflections in the room, cleaning out the background noise, making sporting events and all other activities hosted in the facility more comfortable for the audience.
